In the last round of the federal Excellence Initiative the University of Freiburg was awarded the Cluster of Excellence BrainLinks-BrainTools. The cluster unites various interdisciplinary projects at the University and the University Medical Center. CorTec contributes to a number of projects in the cluster.
Since 2004, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) is funding neuroscientific research in Germany with the National Bernstein Network. In this framework top neuroscience research centers in Germany are interconnected. At the University of Freiburg, the Bernstein Center (BCF) coordinates the respective research activities and also contributes to the the Cluster of Excellence BrainLinks-BrainTools.
CorTec is supported by several funding projects. Among the involvement in other projects CorTec itself coordinates the project Motor-BIC funded by the BMBF. In this project the CorTec Brain Interchange implant system is prepared for clinical applications in motor disabilities.
Two BMBF-funded projects are already completed.
